Position Statement

I’ve got a broad experience with IEEE: chapters, sections, conferences, Region, society, and the BOD level. I’ve rolled up my sleeves and done the hard work at chapter and section levels

  •      Rejuvenated two dormant Sections that became Coastal Los Angeles Section
  •      8 years as treasurer
  •      Created CLASTECH, a 1-day section meeting that supports working engineers

I’m a cancer survivor, and a Fellow of the IEEE.

Region 6 is an exciting place for IEEE members.  Region 6 is the largest US region; some sections that have 400 members; some have 4000 members.  It is a community of universities, companies, innovators, and consultants. To make Region 6 a better place, the Director needs to make a full time commitment. To make region 6 a better place, strategic decisions need to be made to choose what to keep, what to fix, what to cut, and what to add.

I want to support all phases of our careers, starting with students, young professionals entering the workforce, mid careers, and retirement. I’ll be retiring soon, and will be able to dedicate my time to the job.

With declining membership, a strong focus on membership development will be essential; but we need to reduce overhead too.

Conferences provide a tangible member benefit. I will:

  • Support regional conferences such as Rising Stars, SUSTECH, and GHTC.
  • Improve society involvement with the conferences.
  • Work with TAB initiative like the IoT and 5G.
  • Help facilitate society conferences in Region 6.I have a passion for the IEEE community,

I will give the Region 6 Director position my undivided attention. I will not use the position as a stepping stone to other positions.
